Birth of animal domestication

In this early period agriculture and animal domestication cannot be separated. In Catalonia were domesticated at the same time dogs, goats, sheep, oxen and pigs; on the contrary to other places, where the domestication process took longer in time.

The main source of food comes from hunting, especially small and medium animals. This source is combined with domestic animals.

Animals are fundamentally domesticated for food, but they are also used for their wool, skin and the energy of oxen.  There will take more time to use them for dairy products.
